About The Position

Cotulla Education, which includes the Aviation Institute of Maintenance (AIM), Centura College, Tidewater Tech, and American Lineman College, is committed to transforming lives through career-focused education in high-demand fields. AIM is seeking Aircraft Maintenance Instructors for its Duluth campus to train students for FAA-certified mechanic roles within its Part 147 program. The role is ideal for individuals with military or civilian aviation maintenance experience, offering a structured 5-day paid instructor training program to facilitate the transition into teaching. The company emphasizes the value of military aviation experience, noting that the precision, discipline, and ability to teach under pressure required in military maintenance are also essential for effective A&P instructors. The position involves translating hands-on experience into classroom instruction, mentoring students, and working in a mission-driven environment with clear expectations. No prior teaching experience is necessary.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 3 years of aircraft maintenance experience.
• Background as an A&P Mechanic, Aircraft Mechanic, or Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT).
• FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Mechanic Certificate required.
• Strong knowledge of aircraft systems and aviation maintenance procedures.
• Interest in mentoring, coaching, and developing others.
• Ability to work in a structured, compliance-driven training environment.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint).
• Flexibility to support evening or weekend schedules as needed.

• Associate degree in aviation or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Teach aircraft maintenance systems, procedures, and techniques in a hands-on environment.
• Deliver FAA-aligned curriculum to prepare students for A&P certification.
• Demonstrate practical skills used by A&P mechanics and aviation technicians.
• Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress.
• Support curriculum updates and collaborate with program leadership.

• Maintain classroom, lab equipment, and training materials.
