About The Position

This position involves aircraft maintenance, repair, inspection, modification, and flight-line operations for the F/A-18 aircraft within the Naval Test Wing Atlantic (NTWL) at Patuxent River, MD. The role requires a strong understanding of maintenance systems, technical publications, and aircraft logs and records. Specific experience with sheet metal/structural modifications and repair, or electrical and avionics systems, is necessary depending on the specialization. The job also involves the use of unique aircraft tools and test equipment.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Demonstrated use of technical publications and guidance.
  • Demonstrated experience with aircraft and equipment logs and records.
  • Broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair (for mechanical support positions).
  • Thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, micrometers, sheet metal brakes, and sheers (for mechanical support positions).
  • Basic knowledge of electrical theory (for electrical and avionics positions).
  • Thorough knowledge of aircraft's unique tools such as test equipment, indicators, and meters (for electrical and avionics positions).
  • Experience within NAVAIRINST 3710.1(series) or CNAFINST 4790.2 (series) equivalent maintenance systems (may be waived with Trade, A&P, FAA Certification).

Nice To Haves

  • A&P certification.
  • Specific experience with the F/A-18 aircraft type model.
  • Two years NAWC/ NAVAIR experience.
  • Experience performing functional duties independently.
  • Knowledge of supply/ logistics policies and procedures.
