About The Position

This position involves aircraft maintenance, repair, inspection, modification, and flight-line operations for the F/A-18 aircraft within the Naval Test Wing Atlantic (NTWL) at Patuxent River, MD. The role requires a strong understanding of maintenance systems, technical publications, and aircraft logs and records. Specific experience with sheet metal/structural modifications and repair, or electrical and avionics systems, is necessary depending on the specialization. The job also involves the use of unique aircraft tools and test equipment.

Requirements

High School diploma or GED.
Demonstrated use of technical publications and guidance.
Demonstrated experience with aircraft and equipment logs and records.
Broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair (for mechanical support positions).
Thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, micrometers, sheet metal brakes, and sheers (for mechanical support positions).
Basic knowledge of electrical theory (for electrical and avionics positions).
Thorough knowledge of aircraft's unique tools such as test equipment, indicators, and meters (for electrical and avionics positions).
Experience within NAVAIRINST 3710.1(series) or CNAFINST 4790.2 (series) equivalent maintenance systems (may be waived with Trade, A&P, FAA Certification).

Nice To Haves

A&P certification.
Specific experience with the F/A-18 aircraft type model.
Two years NAWC/ NAVAIR experience.
Experience performing functional duties independently.
Knowledge of supply/ logistics policies and procedures.
