About The Position

Aviation Technology Associates (AVTECH Global) is looking for an Aircraft Cabinetmaker. This role involves fabricating aircraft furniture and other wood-surfaced subassemblies using aircraft specifications, design and engineering drawings for installation in aircraft. The position offers opportunities for growth, from entry-level learning to senior responsibilities including mentoring and project oversight.

Requirements

  • High School diploma/GED.
  • Experience requirement ranges from entry level with experience in woodworking, wood finishing or auto body & painting experience in a technical environment or completion of technical certificate in cabinetmaking to four (4) years of experience in cabinetmaking (aerospace industry preferred).
  • Valid driver's license may be required.
  • Participation in a DOT/FAA drug and alcohol program may be required.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

Nice To Haves

  • Possess a working knowledge of inspection and process specifications preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of cabinetmaking processes, products and tools.
  • Advanced knowledge of cabinetmaking processes and products.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricates aircraft furniture and other wood-surfaced subassemblies using aircraft specifications, design and engineering drawings for installation in aircraft.
  • Learns entry-level technical skills and knowledge, regulatory requirements and tooling used in aircraft cabinetmaking.
  • Develops proficiency in the preparation and making of furniture using standard safety and operating procedures, design/engineering drawings, tools and other materials (laminates, veneers, cap strips).
  • Utilizes the material tracking system to create parts demand, track squawks and to sign-off completed work.
  • Complies with all safety, 5S, and housekeeping policies, uses personal protective equipment; ensures aircraft interior is protected.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of related initiatives.
  • Assembles, pins and glues cabinet shells.
  • Installs drawer-slides, hinges, latches and other hardware in subassemblies.
  • Applies exterior surface materials such as laminates, veneers, and cap strips.
  • Uses various types of stationary and hand-held power tools to fabricate or disassemble furniture.
  • Works with lead and higher skilled technicians to develop and implement process improvements that increase safety, reduce cost, cycle time, and man-hours using Lean Six-Sigma and other process improvement techniques.
  • Interprets material specifications and design/engineering drawings to ensure finished product meets design and engineering requirements with a high level of quality and detail.
  • Coordinates with supervision to ensure compliance with customer approved design samples.
  • Mentors and trains lesser skilled technicians.
  • Oversees projects and coordinates with lead to delegate tasks to assigned technicians.
  • Conducts safety audits and assists team members in doing safety audits.
  • Assists in maintaining shop equipment and associated JSAs.
  • Coordinates with other back shops when necessary.
  • Adapts to sudden schedule changes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
