This role is for motivated Aircraft Avionics Technicians, open to graduates from specific Avionics programs, to support production and major modifications on De Havilland aircraft, specifically the DHC-515 Firefighter (Waterbomber). The position is based in a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Calgary, Alberta. Requirements

  • A soon-to-be graduate from an Avionics Program from SAIT, Okanagan College, Mohawk College, BCIT, or Fanshawe College (or a similar discipline).
  • Eager to gain real-world experience and build your skills in a professional manufacturing setting.
  • Comfortable working from technical documentation and following detailed instructions.
  • A team player who thrives in collaborative, hands-on environments.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to work safely with tools and equipment.
  • Physically able to work at heights or in confined spaces when required.
  • Maintain strict adherence to Health & Safety Policies.
  • Perform key physical tasks of the position described in the job description and interview process.
  • Ability to work in a variety of environmental conditions including temperature extremes, confined spaces, working at heights and with or around chemicals.
  • Adhere to the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) when at work.
  • Ability to maintain a positive fit test when mask use is required.
  • Completion of positive and satisfactory background checks, which may include, proof that you are legally entitled to work in Canada, professional references, verification of employment history, verification of educational background and criminal background checks.

Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical wiring tasks and system installations in an aircraft manufacturing production environment.
  • Possess basic knowledge of Standard Wiring Practices, Avionics Systems, and the ability to accurately interpret maintenance manuals, service bulletins, wiring diagrams, system schematics, engineering orders, and manufacturer installation manuals.
  • Maintain a basic understanding of other aircraft systems such as hydraulics, flight controls, and major aircraft components to support comprehensive avionics work.
  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair avionics systems, including communication, navigation, flight control, and entertainment systems, ensuring functionality and safety.
  • Fabricate and repair parts and components following drawings and standard practices, including creating wire bundles and assemblies, labeling wires, securely bundling them, and terminating wires into various connectors.
  • Conduct system checks and inspections, ensuring that avionics systems comply with both industry standards and safety regulations.
  • Maintain detailed, accurate records of work performed, tracking all repairs, installations, and inspections.
  • Keep an organized inventory of tools and equipment.
  • Ensure a clean and safe working environment, promptly reporting any safety concerns or unsafe conditions to leadership.
  • Take immediate action to address safety issues as needed.
  • Ensure the traceability and accuracy of all parts removed or installed on the aircraft, following procedures to maintain aircraft integrity.
  • Utilize avionics test equipment and hand tools effectively for system testing, installation, and repair.
  • Maintain these tools in good working condition.
  • Safely operate ground support equipment, including power carts and lifts, when properly trained.
