About The Position

This position is responsible for preventing collisions between aircraft by organizing and expediting the flow of air traffic. The role involves providing for the safe, orderly, and expeditious flow of air traffic, originating and relaying clearances, and coordinating with other air traffic control agencies. The position also includes issuing advisories, contacting emergency services, providing weather updates, and monitoring navigation aids and electronic equipment. Additionally, the role may involve performing the duties of the Controller in Charge (CIC) and participating in supplemental training.

Requirements

Thorough knowledge of FAA Handbook 7110.65.
Must possess a previous facility rating.
Possess Air Traffic Control Tower (CTO) Certificate.
Possess METAR Certification.
Possess FAA Class II Medical Certification.
Successful completion of a drug test and background investigation.

Responsibilities

Provides for the safe, orderly, and expeditious flow of air traffic.
Originates, delivers and relays clearances authorizing the movement of aircraft, vehicles, and personnel on the airport.
Coordinates with other air traffic control agencies to ensure the safe movement of aircraft.
Relays all movement information of aircraft.
Issues air traffic advisories to alert pilots to traffic and obstacles.
Contacts local law enforcement and airport security in the event of an emergency.
Provides weather updates and hourly reports; monitors ASOS.
Monitors all electronic aids to navigation, including runway lighting, taxiway lighting, approach lighting, wind instruments, clocks, altimeters, ASOS monitors, and the Dictaphone panel.
Performs the duties of the Controller in Charge (CIC).
Participates in supplemental training.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
