About The Position

This role handles the daily operations of the Accounting Department. The Controller will assist in establishing proper accounting procedures and help our department reach financial reporting objectives.

  • Calculating monthly service and construction sales commissions and preparing statements
  • Preparing and entering monthly journal entries
  • Reconciling various accounts
  • Performing Work in Process reporting, related journal entries, and reconciliations
  • Preparing and managing Fixed Asset depreciation calculations and quarterly disposal determinations
  • Tracking new vehicles and updating leases
  • Establishing, documenting, and storing inventory management processes and procedures
  • Reconciling inventory to the general ledger
  • Coordinating annual physical inventory counts and rotating truck counts
  • Reviewing account reconciliations versus budget
  • Producing and providing monthly Gross Margin analysis reporting to leadership
  • Attending bi-monthly project meetings
  • Pushing estimated cost updates and tracking causes
  • Pushing Change Order execution
  • Pushing deposits for equipment
  • Tracking cost incurred versus cash collections
  • Performing margin variance analysis
  • Producing and distributing monthly Project WIP drivers

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the operations and personnel of the accounting department
  • Setup recurring touch points to meet with each accounting member (monthly or quarterly)
  • Participation in Quarterly Managers Meetings
  • Maintaining and improving internal financial controls and procedures
  • Establish cross training within the accounting department so all roles and tasks have a backup
  • Oversee the processes of the Accounting Department and document procedures to be electronically stored.
  • Ensuring day to day accounting functions are carried out accurately and efficiently
  • Meeting the financial close deadline (currently a 5 day close)
  • Calculate monthly service and construction sales commissions and prepare statements
  • Prepare and enter monthly journal entries and reconcile various accounts
  • Perform Work in Process reporting, related journal entries and reconciliations
  • Prepare and manage Fixed Asset depreciation calculations and quarterly disposal determinations

  • Reconciliation to the general ledger for Inventory Management
