MSP Air Traffic Control Instructor
About The Position
SAIC is seeking a full-time Air Traffic Control Instructor to join its Controller Training Solutions (CTS) team at the Minneapolis-St Paul Intl/Wold-Chamberlain ATCT (MSP) in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The position supports air traffic controller training services for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The instructor delivers classroom and/or simulation laboratory training to developmental air traffic controllers and Certified Professional Controllers (CPCs), and helps prepare students to become fully certified air traffic controllers. The role also includes mentoring students and Remote Pilot Operators (RPOs), and participating in curriculum design and development. The candidate must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills needed to obtain radar and/or non-radar simulation laboratory certifications at FAA air traffic control facilities within the U.S. National Airspace System. The posting notes that earnings from work as an ATC Instructor, ATC Training Instructional Supervisor, or Contractor Site Supervisor on this program are exempt from Supplemental Annuity earnings limits for FERS retirees ages 56 to 62.
Requirements
- U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
- At least five years of FAA Certified Professional Controller (CPC) experience controlling live traffic, or recent experience as a contract instructor at an FAA facility.
- Experience must be at the same type and same or greater level of ATC facility as the Minneapolis-St Paul Intl/Wold-Chamberlain ATCT (MSP).
- Strong technical skills with current ATC automation, simulation systems, and procedures.
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- FAA Certified Professional Controller (CPC) certification.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Instructor-II Simulation Laboratory Certification.
Nice To Haves
- Direct experience as a Certified Professional Controller at the Minneapolis-St Paul Intl/Wold-Chamberlain ATCT (MSP).
- Operational experience with ATC simulators, including scenario design for simulation platforms such as TSS, AT Coach, and SGET.
- Ability to interface effectively with FAA personnel at all levels to ensure training meets local facility needs and the FAA’s overall Air Traffic Control mission.
- Experience demonstrating excellent teaching and/or platform skills, classroom management techniques, and a student-focused drive for continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
