Requirements

  • 5 years' experience in general aviation engine overhaul and maintenance, (preferably Continental) and related airframe maintenance
  • Previous experience in presenting at safety seminars, pilot workshops, and/or IA renewal seminars
  • Excellent communication skills and technical writing skills (ability to communicate complex technical issues clearly in writing)
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite of products (PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Must hold an FAA Airframe & Powerplant Mechanic License.

Nice To Haves

  • Four-year college degree (BA/BS) is beneficial, especially engineering or aviation related course work.
  • Inspection Authorization preferred
  • Pilot’s license is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Extensive travel is required, often on short notice
  • Coordinating investigative efforts with NTSB, FAA and other investigative organizations to provide timely technical support both on site and remotely
  • Ensuring accident reports and related work product are professional and delivered in a timely manner
  • Assisting in developing effective and efficient work policies and procedures for Air Safety Team
  • Participate in complex and sensitive accident investigations and brief executive-level personnel on any potential safety concerns or unforeseen design and/or production issues
  • When required, represent Continental Accident Investigation Department at meetings such as insurance reviews or FAA Continued Operational Safety (COS) briefings/reports
  • Review Air Safety Investigation written products for thoroughness and accuracy
  • Assist with the development/review of Continental Service Instructions, Letters, and Bulletins
  • Other duties as may be assigned
