About The Position

This position provides engineering and regulatory support that helps ensure clean air protections are met throughout Pennsylvania. Your work will focus on technical evaluation, collaborating with partners, and developing key permitting requirements. As an Air Quality Engineer, you will perform the following duties: Permitting Criteria Development: Develop comprehensive criteria for emissions control standards and supporting documents. Feasibility Assessment: Analyze data to evaluate technological and economic feasibility for oil and gas industries. Regulation Development Support: Assist in drafting regulations and determining applicability of state and federal standards. Technical Consultation: Guide regional staff, consultants, and industries on technology requirements and air quality regulations. Documentation and Reporting: Prepare reports, briefings, letters, and responses for internal and external audiences. Participation and Coordination: Engage in meetings, hearings, and events and coordinate with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and DEP staff.

Requirements

  • Two years as an Air Quality Engineering Specialist (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration)
  • Four years of professional experience in air quality engineering or environmental engineering, and possession of a valid Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists
  • Three years of professional experience in air quality engineering or environmental engineering, and possession of a valid Professional Engineer license issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists
  • Three years of professional experience in air quality engineering or environmental engineering, and a bachelor’s degree in the field of engineering
  • Graduate study in chemical, mechanical, electrical or environmental engineering may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis
  • Possession of a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license
  • Possession of a valid Professional Engineer license issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists
  • Meet the PA residency requirement
