About The Position

As our new Managing Consultant in Air and Climate, you will be part of Ramboll’s Environment & Health Division. This group includes professionals passionate about air quality and environmental compliance, supporting clients in addressing complex regulatory and technical challenges. The team provides services across a range of areas, including air permitting, emissions estimation, regulatory compliance, control technology assessments, air dispersion modeling, and preparation of air quality and compliance reports.

Requirements

  • B.S. or M.S. in Chemical, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering, Atmospheric Science, or a related physical science with strong quantitative coursework.
  • 9+ years of air quality consulting experience, including air permitting, compliance, and/or air dispersion modeling
  • Demonstrated project management experience, including proposal development, managing scope, schedule, budgets, and multidisciplinary project teams
  • Experience with client relationship management, and business development efforts
  • Strong understanding of air pollution control technologies and air dispersion modeling tools (e.g., AERMOD)
  • Experience interpreting and applying federal and state air regulations, including Clean Air Act programs (e.g., NSR/PSD, Title V, NSPS and NESHAP); multi-state experience desirable
  • Demonstrated experience preparing air permit applications, including NSR/PSD and Title V, encompassing emissions calculations, regulatory applicability analysis, application preparation, and agency coordination through permit issuance
  • Proven ability to communicate technical information effectively to clients, regulators, and stakeholders, including presentations and regulatory interactions
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel; experience with programming (e.g., Python, R), databases
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop junior staff in technical and consulting skills
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. No sponsorship is available for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Serving as the technical lead, overseeing consultant-level staff on complex air quality projects
  • Critically reviewing and interpreting local, state, and federal environmental regulations, with a focus on air compliance
  • Maintaining client relationships and managing deliverables to meet client needs efficiently and to the highest quality
  • Preparing air quality permit applications and environmental reports across a range of complexity levels and for a range of industry types
  • Estimating emissions and conducting engineering evaluations of air pollution sources
