About The Position

TRC is seeking a motivated mid-level Air Quality Engineer, Scientist or Meteorologist with 3-10 years of experience related to air emission compliance and permitting. This Environmental Specialist position will focus on air dispersion modeling, permitting and regulatory compliance for industrial clients in Texas. This position will report to the Houston, TX Office, however working from various locations within the state is a possibility. The position requires strong air quality technical capabilities, desire to solve complex problems, commitment to excellence, and the ability to develop client relationships.

Requirements

  • 3-10 years of air quality experience
  • Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Meteorology, or related degree
  • Experience working on air quality regulatory requirements in a consulting, industrial, or agency setting in the following areas: air dispersion modeling, NSR, PSD and non-attainment, air emission control technology reviews, emissions inventory and Title V permitting, and regulatory compliance evaluations
  • Experience with PSD modeling in the state of TX using AERMOD
  • Understanding of Federal and State air quality regulations and policies and emerging regulatory programs
  • Texas Commission on Environmental Quality experience
  • Excellent communication skills, writing skills, data management and interpretation skills
  • Expertise in spreadsheets and word processing
  • Ability to manage multiple clients and tasks concurrently
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen, background check and motor vehicle records check

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with AERMOD and CALPUFF modeling
  • Excellent working relationships with State and Federal agency personnel
  • Utility, Data Center, Refinery, Chemicals, Oil and Gas, and Manufacturing air permitting experience
  • Participate in environmental organizations
  • Ability to obtain Professional Engineering License in Texas or licensure by committee or other similar certification
  • Outstanding listening skills to capture pertinent information
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to anticipate clients' needs

Responsibilities

  • Conduct air dispersion modeling
  • Complete emission calculations
  • Prepare semiannual and annual compliance reports
  • Develop new source review (NSR) and Prevention of Significant Deterioration (PSD) air permit applications for a wide variety of industries
  • Manage key technical aspects or project tasks
  • Manage certain types of projects as experience grows
