About The Position

This is a temporary, full-time Air Import position. The individual will serve as the communication link between various departments including import, dispatch, warehouse, airport pickup agents, and airlines. Key responsibilities include dispatching recovery agents, maintaining pickup lists, updating systems with cargo arrival information, processing airline payments, filing pre-claims for damages, ensuring customer KPIs are met, and managing load planning and consolidation opportunities. The role also involves building and maintaining carrier relationships, negotiating and booking trucks, creating BOLs/Delivery Orders, and entering data into the Morrison system. Additionally, the position requires tracking orders, uploading POD information, approving invoices, and potentially running to the airport cargo area for inspections. Other duties may be assigned by management.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma
  • 1-3 years in a dispatch or truck brokerage environment negotiating rates and booking Dry Vans, Straight Trucks and Sprinter/Cargo Vans with carriers.
  • Good working knowledge of excel.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced working environment with a Good Can-Do Attitude.
  • Good Time Management with attention to detail.
  • Detail-oriented individual with the ability to maintain a good positive attitude towards employees, customers, and carriers with the willingness to go the extra mile to get the job done.
  • Must be able to work extended hours when needed.
  • Good driving record.
  • Have your own personal vehicle.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with planning/scheduling preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the communication bridge between the import department, dispatch department, warehouse, airport pick up agent and airlines.
  • Dispatch airport recovery agent for all incoming shipments for MEC ORD.
  • Update and maintain Excel pick up list multiple times throughout the day so other departments have visibility for all pickups on that day.
  • Update system when cargo arrives at warehouse.
  • Pay airlines when needed through Paycargo or other necessary payment methods.
  • File pre-claims with airlines/freight handler for damages when needed.
  • Ensure all customer KPI’s are met daily.
  • Load planning/building loads, communicating heavily with team members for consolidation opportunities.
  • Build & maintain relationships with Carriers.
  • Negotiate & book trucks in the most cost-effective ways while following customer requirements and insuring on time delivery.
  • Create BOL’s/Delivery Orders in a timely manner, making sure Customs Clearances are in hand before releasing goods.
  • Data Entry, enter milestones into Morrison system in a timely manner.
  • Answer emails in a timely & professional manner.
  • Track and trace orders and enter & upload POD information into the system once delivered.
  • Approve invoices.
  • Run to the airport cargo area for cargo inspections.
  • Other duties assigned by management.
