About The Position

Boeing Defense is currently looking for an Air Conditioning Mechanic A in Ridley Park, PA to join their team. This role involves the installation, maintenance, and repair of refrigeration and air conditioning equipment for plant facilities. The mechanic will perform various tasks including laying out, constructing, installing, and rebuilding equipment, as well as making control adjustments using specialized testing equipment. The position also includes electrical wiring and installation of electronic controls for refrigeration and air conditioning systems. The mechanic will be responsible for repairing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and adjusting existing equipment, maintaining temperature and service records, and ensuring compliance with government and Boeing required EPA Universal Refrigerant Technician Certification and Lock out/Tag out procedures. A visual inspection of equipment, power sources, wiring, plumbing, and electronic components is also part of the duties. This position requires compliance with Export Control regulations, necessitating the applicant to be a "US Person".

Requirements

  • Completion of trade or apprenticeship in HVAC.
  • 3 or more years of experience supporting or installing HVAC systems, ventilation, and/or chilled water building systems in an industrial and/or manufacturing facility.
  • 3 or more years of experience with HVAC applicable codes
  • Must possess a Universal EPA Certification.
  • Must be a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 (US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee).

  • High school diploma/GED and/or vocational/trade school training preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lay out, construct, install and rebuild refrigeration and air conditioning equipment for plant facilities.
  • Perform work described in other maintenance classifications when incidental but necessary to the accomplishment of the assignment.
  • Read and make control adjustments using such typical testing equipment as Freon leak tester, thermometer (wet and dry bulbs), sling psychrometer, monometer, velometer, hydrometer, humidistat, etc.
  • Install and adjust valve controls and perform electrical wiring and installation of special electronic controls used for regulating and controlling refrigeration and air conditioning equipment.
  • Repair, maintain, trouble shoot and adjust all existing types of refrigeration and air conditioning equipment (production and building).
  • Maintain necessary temperature and service records.
  • Maintain required government and Boeing required EPA Universal Refrigerant Technician Certification, Lock out/Tag out equipment and related systems, as required.
  • Visually inspect equipment, power source, wiring, plumbing, electronic components and systems for defects or maintenance problems.
