About The Position

The Ramp Service Clerk at Worldwide Flight Services (WFS) is responsible for safely and efficiently supporting airport cargo operations, particularly during seasonal or temporary peak periods. This role involves the loading and unloading of cargo, freight, and company materials on and off aircraft, as well as transporting cargo between terminals, warehouses, and aircraft. The position also includes handling ramp transfers, receiving and delivering freight, and completing all necessary documentation for accurate shipment processing. The Ramp Service Clerk must adhere to all WFS site security procedures, report any security concerns, breaches, or suspicious activities immediately, and is covered under a collective bargaining agreement as a seasonal/temporary role.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma, GED or Equivalent
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to work rotating shifts including weekends (i.e., Friday, Saturday, Sunday), holidays, and days off.
  • Ability to lift up to 70 lbs.
  • Ability to work in all types of weather conditions as well as environmental conditions, i.e., jet engine fumes, vehicle emissions, dust, and jet engine noise.
  • Ability to distinguish colors, red, green, and yellow.

Responsibilities

  • Load and unload aircraft cargo weighing up to 70 lbs within confined aircraft cargo compartments.
  • Push, pull, and position loaded cargo containers weighing up to 3,200 lbs on aircraft roller systems.
  • Transport cargo between terminals, warehouses, and aircraft using vehicles weighing up to 3,000 lbs.
  • Operate ramp vehicles safely in congested areas with moving aircraft, equipment, and personnel.
  • Use accurate depth perception to maneuver vehicles with attached cargo carts through tight ramp spaces.
  • Read and interpret off-load sheets to ensure proper routing and placement of cargo.
  • Communicate clearly with ramp personnel, warehouse staff, and supervisors to support safe cargo operations.
  • Work effectively in high-noise, fast-paced outdoor environments and respond promptly to safety instructions.
  • Ensure all cargo is secured, tagged, and positioned correctly for aircraft loading.
  • Follow all airport and company safety rules, ramp procedures, and cargo-handling protocols.
  • Identify and report unauthorized individuals in restricted areas in compliance with security regulations.
  • Maintain regular and timely attendance to support operational schedules.
