About The Position

Help shape the future of HIV care across New York State. Every clinic that delivers HIV care in New York is working toward the same goal: better outcomes for the people they serve. As an AIDS Program Manager I, you'll be at the center of that effort — driving the quality improvement work that helps medical providers statewide raise the standard of care for people living with HIV. Sitting within the Office of Quality Initiatives, you'll lead the day-to-day operations of the Quality of Care (QOC) Program. You'll help to turn quality improvement from an abstract goal into real, measurable change at the clinic level. As an AIDS Program Manager I, you'll join the Office of Grants, Data Management and Quality, a team dedicated to making sure that the resources and standards behind HIV care actually translate into better lives for people with HIV. The incumbent will manage and oversee program planning, design and implementation, quality standards, evaluation, and quality improvement activities across HIV clinics and within the AIDS Institute. Responsibilities will also include the supervision of quality consultant(s) and monitoring of HIV clinic quality management programs to ensure optimal support of high-quality healthcare for people with HIV across New York State; and performing other related duties.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a related field and five years of experience in the management of an HIV/AIDS or other relevant program in a public health, health/human services, health regulatory program or community-based services organization; OR an Associate’s degree in a related field and seven years of such experience; OR nine years of such experience.
  • The years of experience must have included policy formulation, program planning, design, implementation, evaluation, and/or allocation of resources.
  • At least three years of experience must have included supervision of staff and program management.
  • A master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one year of experience.
  • Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required.
  • Travel up to 25% of the time will be required.
  • The selected candidate must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the official work location specified in the job posting and must also be located in or willing to relocate to one of the following states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Vermont, or Massachusetts, prior to hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in public health or healthcare related field.
  • At least five years of experience working in public health administration and/or healthcare administration.
  • At least three years of experience in the management of programs specifically designed to improve the quality of HIV medical care.
  • Knowledge and understanding of basic and advanced quality improvement (QI) methodology, QI tools and QI principles along with advanced performance measurement tools, such as tools for strategizing improvement ideas (e.g., driver diagram, cause and effect diagram) and conducting data analyses (e.g., control charts).
  • At least three years of experience providing technical assistance and capacity building of quality improvement for health or supportive service providers.
  • Academic or professional understanding of HIV as well as HIV-related harm reduction and prevention activities such as U=U and PrEP.
  • Experience providing technical assistance in the implementation of health equity and stigma reduction quality improvement activities.
  • At least five years of experience supervising staff or consultants.

Responsibilities
