About The Position

This position provides clerical and student-care assistance as assigned within the special education program. The aide will support special education teachers in implementing instructional programs, collecting data, maintaining student records, and assisting students with self-care and behavioral needs. The role also involves preparing instructional materials, maintaining equipment, and assisting with non-medical procedures as necessary for student well-being.

Requirements

  • College hours for Title I campus: 48 required or a score of 464 on the ParaPro test
  • College hours: 15 or high school diploma or GED (with a passing score of 464 on the ParaPro test) for Non-Title I campus
  • Communicate and work with students with disabilities
  • Maintain effective working relationships
  • Minimum clerical skills
  • Good physical and emotional condition
  • Work with confidential material and student records
  • Paraprofessional Educational Aide II certificate required once employed
  • CPI certification once employed

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Assist special education teachers in implementing instructional programs for students.
  • Collect data and maintain confidential student records and charts for determining student progress.
  • Assist with self-care of students including toileting, bathing, feeding, etc.
  • Implement activities recommended by support and related service personnel.
  • Implement behavior intervention strategies.
  • Implement recommended assistive technology devices to support programming.
  • Carry out all activities as described in the student’s IEP under the supervision of the classroom teacher.
  • Prepare and duplicate instructional materials.
  • Maintain and clean equipment needed for student program.
  • Provide non-medical procedures such as tube feeding and other interventions as necessary for the student.
  • Assist all students as needed in Special Ed.
  • Provide Personal Care as identified in applicable student IEPs.
