About The Position

Provide assistance in the classroom as directed by the teacher(s). This role involves adhering to federal, state, and local policies and procedures related to pre-kindergarten programs, participating in professional growth activities, and assisting in carrying out the instructional program. The aide will help maintain student records and audit folders, prepare, use, and maintain instructional materials and equipment, and assist with teacher-planned activities, exercises, and drills. A key responsibility is to assist in the teaching/learning process by working with individuals and small groups of students to reinforce skills as directed by the teacher. The position also requires attending professional meetings, assisting in administering and scoring objective assessment instruments, maintaining flexibility, and placing district goals above personal goals. Establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with others is also essential, as is supervising individual and small group activities as directed by the teacher.

Requirements

  • Proficient in Spanish, both written and oral
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Title I campus: 48 college hours required or a score of 464 on the ParaPro test
  • Ability to work with students and teachers
  • Ability to manage a flexible schedule
  • Paraprofessional aide certificate required once employed

Nice To Haves

  • School office experience or volunteer experience preferred
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work within deadlines
