About The Position

Tempus is pursuing a mission to redefine precision medicine through data-driven insights. Its AI Products group is a multidisciplinary team of AI scientists and engineers developing AI-driven precision medicine and therapeutic solutions across the clinical and drug development lifecycle. The AI Scientist works at the intersection of machine learning and clinical science to research, design, and deploy multimodal AI models using Tempus’s clinical and molecular datasets, with the goal of advancing patient care.

Requirements

Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related quantitative field.
Demonstrated expertise in deep learning model development and rigorous evaluation.
A strong track record of peer-reviewed publications in leading machine learning or computer vision venues.
Proficiency in Python and the modern deep learning stack, such as PyTorch.

Nice To Haves

Experience in computer vision and multimodal modeling, including pathology or multi-omics.
Prior work in medical or healthcare AI.
Publications in medical or healthcare AI venues.
Strong product-level coding skills for model development.
A solid understanding of industry-standard software engineering and development practices.

Responsibilities

Make significant hands-on technical contributions as an individual contributor.
Design and train state-of-the-art models using multimodal data, including pathology slides (WSI), genomic profiles (DNA/RNA), spatial omics, and longitudinal patient records.
Develop AI solutions with life sciences companies to support biomarker discovery, therapy outcome prediction, and Companion Diagnostics (CDx).
Ensure AI products meet regulatory guidelines and quality standards for healthcare applications.
Publish original research in high-impact venues and engage with the global AI research community.
