This role involves overseeing, monitoring, and reporting on information and technology risks for a designated portfolio. The manager is responsible for developing and monitoring the risk management and governance framework and practices across BMO to manage these risks, ensuring adherence to policies, standards, methodologies, and controls for increased transparency, accuracy, and consistency. Key functions include working with stakeholders to implement risk methodologies, metrics, and program standards, acting as a trusted advisor to business groups, and guiding in issue identification and classification. The position requires influencing and negotiating to achieve business objectives, recommending solutions, assisting in strategic planning, and identifying emerging issues and trends. The manager will independently assess the information and technology risk profile, interpret new regulations, and lead the development and maintenance of the governance system and framework. Other responsibilities include coordinating database management, building change management plans, defining communication strategies, assessing training needs, and leading the monitoring and reporting of the risk governance program. The role also involves managing governance meetings, providing input into operational programs, designing and implementing core business processes, and administering risk program activities. The manager will review new initiatives for potential risks, provide advice on risk framework implementation, and coordinate oversight activities. Building effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders is crucial for providing second-line defense risk management support. The position requires managing databases for analysis and visualization, analyzing data for insights and recommendations, and maintaining tools and templates for various risk programs. The manager must develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of business, risk management requirements, and regulatory directives, and is expected to work independently on non-routine situations, providing specialized consulting and analytical support.
