About The Position

K1x turns tax documents (K-1s, K-3s, state schedules, 990s, and a growing range of other filings and statements) into filing-grade structured data for CPA firms, family offices, and institutional investors. Accuracy and rework are the first thing our buyers ask about, and the models, prompts, and rules that produce each extracted value are the product surface that answers them. That surface needs a product manager fluent in how ML systems behave: how they are evaluated, where they fail, what they cost, and when to replace a component rather than tune it. This role is the product manager for the AI team: how its models and services are supplied to every K1x product line, partnering with the Head of AI on delivery and with the other product managers on where those capabilities land.

Requirements

• 4+ years of product management experience on shipped B2B software, ideally in fintech or regtech.
• At least 2 years of experience owning an AI/ML-powered product surface (e.g., document AI, extraction, search and ranking, LLM features, or an ML platform).
• Fluency in capacity planning, prioritization frameworks (RICE, WSJF, Kano, voice-of-customer synthesis), roadmap sizing, release management, and writing PRDs.
• Understanding of how ML products fail differently from traditional software, including precision/recall trade-offs, evaluation sets, drift, and cost per inference.
• Experience making or shaping build, buy, or replace decisions for model or vendor components.
• Strong written communication skills and ability to run effective meetings.
• Curiosity about AI/ML systems and their application.

• Tax-domain knowledge is not required, but curiosity about the domain is valued.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a rolling six-to-twelve-month roadmap for extraction coverage, accuracy, and the underlying platform, considering team capacity and dependencies.
• Manage the intake and prioritization of new document types, forms, and fields requested by various teams using a defensible framework.
• Define and report on accuracy metrics for different audiences (executive, customer, product, engineering), translating model-level measures into user-experienced impacts.
• Provide the product perspective for decisions on AI models and vendor services, including accuracy, cost, and latency thresholds, and business cases.
• Plan engineering capacity around tax filing peaks and manage scope and dates for tax-year releases.
• Oversee the correction loop, partnering with other product managers and UX to ensure corrections become a usable signal for model improvement.
• Write clear documentation and run efficient meetings to translate technical concepts into actionable decisions for Product, Tax, and Finance.
