About The Position

The intern will support their team in designing, developing, and deploying AI and machine learning solutions for production environments, aligned with USAA's technology strategy and potentially using AI tools for efficiency enhancements.
Requirements
- Pursuing a degree from an accredited college or university, and plan to graduate after the final day of the internship.
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Anticipated graduation date between September 2027 and May 2028.
- Foundational understanding of ML Frameworks
- Foundational understanding of Python
- Foundational understanding of Large Language Models (LLMs)
- Foundational understanding of Prompt Engineering
- Foundational understanding of SQL and database concepts
- Foundational understanding of Problem-solving and analytical thinking
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated leadership through coursework, projects, student organizations, employment, or community involvement.
Nice To Haves
- Experience building production AI or machine learning applications.
- Exposure to MLOps practices.
- Experience developing cloud-native applications and pipelines.
- Coursework or project experience involving software development.
- Understanding of Agile development concepts.
- Interest in AI-assisted development and emerging technologies.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deploy AI and machine learning solutions for production environments
- Implement and optimize machine learning and generative AI models
- Develop scalable AI pipelines, APIs, and automation workflows
- Collaborate with data scientists, model owners, data engineers, and product teams to integrate AI into business applications
- Monitor model performance and continuously improve model accuracy, reliability and efficiency
