•$174,000 - $261,000

About The Position

Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. is seeking an experienced AI System Software Engineer to develop sample AI applications that demonstrate Snapdragon AI APIs, optimized libraries, and interfaces with subsystem components such as camera, audio, display, graphics, memory, security, and other operating system components available on Snapdragon. As a senior member of the team responsible for the AI application developer experience on the Snapdragon compute platform, the engineer will provide Windows AI developers with sample applications and templates for testing proprietary model ports on Windows on Snapdragon and obtaining performance metrics to help optimize models. The role also involves responding to developer ecosystem questions about Snapdragon AI APIs and improving sample applications as needed. Experience developing these applications will inform improvements to the software stack, including SDKs, tools, and documentation. The engineer will collaborate with development leads, software and hardware architects, project engineers, product managers, customer engineers, OEMs, OS partners, and application developers. The ideal candidate has extensive experience building end-to-end applications for computer vision, audio, LVM, or LLM use cases using AI/ML tools and workflows, preferably on Windows across CPU, GPU, and NPU.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field and 4+ years of hardware engineering, software engineering, systems engineering, or related work experience; or a master’s degree in one of these fields and 3+ years of such experience; or a Ph.D. in one of these fields and 2+ years of such experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in application development involving high-performance computing, including 2+ years in AI application development on Windows.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and C++.
  • Excellent communication skills to explain complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership abilities to motivate and guide development teams.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, debugging, and detail-oriented skills.
  • Ability to learn, think, and adapt in a fast-changing environment.
  • Familiarity with software development methodologies, version control systems, and agile project management practices.

Nice To Haves

  • Excellent understanding of AI frameworks such as TensorFlow and PyTorch, GPU programming, and parallel computing.
  • Experience developing and deploying large language models or foundational models.
  • Good understanding of the complete AI software stack and familiarity with AI performance tuning on GPU- and NPU-based systems.
  • Experience developing end-to-end AI applications on Windows using Windows ML and DirectML.
  • Experience with the full model training and deployment workflow on servers and porting models to client Windows compute platforms, including inference deployment and performance tuning.
  • Extensive expertise building end-to-end applications for computer vision, audio, LVM, or LLM use cases using AI/ML tools and workflows, preferably on Windows across CPU, GPU, and NPU.

Responsibilities

  • Understand trends in machine-learning model design and workflows through application developer engagements and current academic research.
  • Develop comprehensive sample applications for AI on Windows on Snapdragon, covering a broad range of models and use cases, including optimized Snapdragon libraries beyond Snapdragon AI functions.
  • Provide performance and accuracy diagnostics in sample applications that accurately reflect expected behavior of third-party application AI models.
  • Work with third-party application developers and cross-site and cross-functional teams to create easy-to-use sample applications and documentation for Windows on Snapdragon developers.
  • Contribute new features and designs to the Qualcomm AI toolkit to improve application developers’ workflow experience.
  • Address application developer ecosystem questions about Snapdragon AI APIs and enhance sample applications as needed.
  • Drive improvements to the software stack, including SDKs, tools, and documentation, based on application development experience.

Benefits

  • Competitive annual discretionary bonus program (subject to eligibility; employees on sales-incentive plans are not eligible).
  • Opportunity for annual RSU grants.
  • Competitive benefits package designed to support employees at work, at home, and at play.
