The role involves getting in early to develop ideas, experiments, and proofs of concept, converting them into practical and real solutions that are implemented and used every day by clients and colleagues. Cidel is seeking a curious, driven, and technically gifted individual with 0-2 years of experience. This individual will work closely with the SVP, Enterprise Change Management and cross-functional business teams to identify Cidel business needs and pain points, generate and present ideas, brainstorm with the team, experiment with various implementation methods, and ultimately build solutions that work daily.

Requirements

Degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, or Engineering - ideally from a top-tier university (University of Toronto, Waterloo, McGill, Western, McMaster, Queen’s, or equivalent)
Coursework or demonstrated interest in machine learning, AI, data science, data engineering or applied mathematics
Proficiency in Python
Familiarity with libraries such as pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, or PyTorch/TensorFlow
Hands-on experience with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Azure AI, etc.) or model fine-tuning
Ability to work with APIs, other integrations, and basic data engineering concepts
Proficiency in SQL

Nice To Haves

Genuine curiosity and knowledge about financial markets, wealth management, banking or how financial institutions operate is a strong asset
Experience with Power Platform, Azure, Copilot studio is a strong asset

Responsibilities

Identify opportunities where AI driven solutions can meaningfully improve client experience and internal processes
Generate ideas and pitch them to the team for brainstorming
Brainstorm and collaborate with the team across other ideas to select high-value AI use cases and translate them into actionable proofs of concept
Explore and experiment with LLMs and emerging AI tools and propose creative ways to overcome obstacles
Design, prototype, and implement AI and automation solutions across Cidel
Contribute to Cidel's AI adoption roadmap
Work with structured and unstructured financial data, supporting other ongoing initiatives
Stay current on developments in AI tooling, APIs, and best practices. Bring and share fresh ideas with the team
Apply responsible AI principles, with awareness of regulatory considerations
Document experiments, findings and solutions to build Cidel's internal AI knowledge base and enable team learning
