About The Position

Commonwealth Fusion Systems is hiring an AI & Infrastructure Engineering Intern for a 26-week internship. Interns work 40–50 hours per week and receive a set hourly salary based on their year in school. The opportunity is on site in Devens, Massachusetts; interns working on site are responsible for their own transportation and housing. Specific project assignments and required technical skills vary based on team needs. The program is open to currently enrolled college students at all levels, from bachelor’s degree through PhD. Interns must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer. The intern will support employees using AI tools, assist with AI tooling onboarding, and develop and maintain internal AI applications. The role also involves working with teams across the business to document current AI usage, identify potential use cases and bespoke problems, and coach interested employees toward becoming self-sufficient AI developers. The position requires communication with non-technical teams and awareness of security and data handling. Interns must be willing to travel or work occasional required nights, weekends, or on-call, and must be dedicated to safety in an industrial environment. The role requires compliance with U.S. Export Control Laws; any employment offer is contingent on that compliance.
