About The Position

The Senior AI Governance Analyst supports USAA’s enterprise AI governance function, helping shape how AI risk is assessed, governed, and monitored. The role applies advanced analytics and risk-management expertise to complex AI and emerging-technology issues, develops insights and recommendations for cross-functional and governance discussions, and helps strengthen controls and practices that support responsible AI. It works across business, technology, risk, and leadership teams in a highly regulated environment. The position provides risk-management support for a line of business or staff agency, including identifying, measuring, and aggregating key risks and supporting their management through quantitative and analytical practices. It monitors the risk and control environment, consults on mitigation plans, and ensures business risks are identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures. The role is based in San Antonio, Texas; Plano, Texas; Phoenix, Arizona; or Charlotte, North Carolina. The work arrangement is flexible but requires working in the office four days per week. Relocation assistance is not available.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Actuarial Sciences, or another quantitative field; or four years of relevant education and/or experience.
Six years of related quantitative analysis experience, including statistical analysis, modeling, engineering, mathematics, business, or another quantitative discipline; or an advanced degree/designation in a relevant quantitative discipline and four years of relevant quantitative risk-management work experience; or a PhD in a listed or other quantitative discipline and up to two years of relevant quantitative risk-management work experience.
Four years of experience working with complex analytical tools and data.
Experience producing and presenting research data related to key business activities.
Experience effectively participating in and leading cross-functional discussions related to risk management.
Experience guiding team members on research and data peer reviews.

Responsibilities

Use advanced analytics to assess future risk, opportunities, and effectiveness, translating results into solutions that enhance decision-making.
Engage in model validation and produce model validation reports.
Apply innovative scientific and quantitative analytical approaches to answer business objectives and drive change.
Translate recommendations into communication materials for peer review and management.
Produce advanced analytical materials for cross-functional discussions to understand complex business objectives and influence solution strategies.
Mentor team members in the peer review process.
May produce reports and data visualizations with quantitative data for Executive Leadership and Boards to support strategic decision-making.
Identify, measure, monitor, and control risks associated with business activities in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
Support risk identification, measurement, aggregation, and mitigation for a line of business or staff agency.
