About The Position

The Data, AI, and Research Technology (DART) team is seeking an AI Full Stack Builder - a developer and engineer who thrives at the intersection of application development and AI. This role is critical to bringing AI capabilities directly into production systems that solutions across RBC Capital Markets. You will own the complete journey from concept to deployment, building robust, scalable applications that integrate cutting-edge AI models and tools into user-facing solutions.
Hybrid Schedule: In-office 4 days per week

Requirements

• 3 + years of professional experience ideally with exposure to AI solutions or modern AI technologies
• Hands-on development experience building applications across multiple layers of the technology stack with proficiency in modern programming languages (Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Java, or similar) and frameworks for both backend and frontend development.
• Demonstrated experience integrating third-party APIs, services, or AI tools—including large language models, vector databases, or other AI services—into production applications, with strong foundational knowledge of databases, system architecture, API design, and cloud-based infrastructure.
• Experience with version control, testing practices, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment automation, plus hands-on familiarity with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerization tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Comfort with the inherent ambiguity of AI development, including the ability to experiment with AI models and tools, evaluate their effectiveness, and make pragmatic trade-offs between accuracy, latency, and cost.
• Experience monitoring application performance, debugging production issues, iterating on systems based on real-world usage patterns, and writing clean, maintainable code while mentoring others on engineering best practices.
• Proactive and detail-oriented approach to taking ownership of complex technical challenges, moving effectively from planning to implementation to deliver working solutions within realistic timelines while working well in geographically distributed, multi-disciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and build end-to-end applications that leverage AI to solve complex business problems across full-stack development, from backend systems and APIs to frontend interfaces with a strong emphasis on AI integration and intelligent automation.
• Evaluate emerging AI tools and models to determine how to effectively incorporate them into applications, and manage the technical challenges of bringing AI to production at scale.
• Architect data flows that support AI pipelines, optimize application performance under real-world usage patterns, and ensure systems remain reliable, secure, and cost-efficient.
• Collaborate across teams to translate business requirements into technical implementations and provide technical leadership on how AI can enhance user experience and operational efficiency.
• Own the complete journey from concept to deployment, ensuring applications integrate cutting-edge AI models and tools into user-facing solutions that drive impact across the organization.
