About The Position

EverReal is seeking an AI-First QA Engineer to own quality and test automation for their platform. This role focuses on operating AI to scale quality assurance, rather than manually writing test scripts. The ideal candidate will define behavior in Gherkin scenarios, review AI-generated test cases, analyze test results to identify genuine bugs, and continuously automate their own work using AI. QA is integrated into the agile process from the beginning, with the QA Engineer acting as the final gatekeeper for production releases.

Requirements

  • Fluent in English (speaking, reading, writing).
  • A genuinely sharp problem-solver — structured, analytical, comfortable with ambiguity.
  • A continuous learner who adopts new tools without being told.
  • Solid grasp of the fundamentals: HTTP, APIs, how the browser works, how Docker works — enough to debug, not just describe.
  • 4+ years in QA / software testing, with strong manual, exploratory, regression and UAT experience as well as automation.
  • A genuine drive to automate your own repetitive work.
  • Strong test-case design and Gherkin / BDD thinking.
  • Hands-on E2E and API automation — Playwright (preferred) or strong Cypress with eagerness to switch.
  • Comfort with JavaScript / TypeScript to read, direct and debug.
  • Excited to work AI-first and to operate AI — direct it, judge its output, build processes around it.

Nice To Haves

  • Real experience using AI tools (Claude Code, Copilot, agents, MCP) in actual work.
  • Experience owning release management / release processes.
  • Mobile app automation testing (React Native).
  • Basic SQL / PostgreSQL for data-driven testing.
  • React.js familiarity.
  • Performance/load testing (JMeter, k6).
  • ISTQB or similar certification.
  • Additional programming languages (Python, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Own quality and be the last gate for production releases.
  • Escalate early when timelines compress.
  • Own manual testing & UAT, including exploratory, functional, regression, and user-acceptance testing.
  • Maintain Gherkin scenarios as the source of truth for product behavior.
  • Operate automated testing, directing AI to implement and run Playwright/E2E and API tests.
  • Judge test results and ensure the test suite is trustworthy and green.
  • Sign off on every release, run regression, and provide the go/no-go decision.
  • Act as the first line of defense for production issues, validating, reproducing, and routing customer-reported issues with AI assistance.
  • Triage results to distinguish real bugs from flakes and identify root causes with AI and tools like Datadog/Sentry.
  • Continuously automate repetitive manual work using AI.
  • Create clear bug reports with root cause, regression checklists, screenshots, logs, and recordings.
  • Learn the product and users deeply to inform scenario creation and questioning.
  • Participate in refinement sessions from the start of the agile process.

Benefits

  • Long-term, open-ended, full-time engagement.
  • Invoicing setup (not local payroll, but full team member status).
  • Goal-driven, not hour-driven; focus on outcomes.
  • Fixed monthly payment.
  • 24 vacation days per year.
  • German public holidays (~13 days).
  • Yearly team events in Germany.
  • A company MacBook (if needed).
  • Opportunity to shape quality processes at a scaling platform.
  • Work from anywhere on CET-friendly hours.
  • Positive, highly motivated international team.
  • A learning & wellness budget.
  • A genuinely modern, AI-forward technology stack.
  • Culture that rewards thinking, not box-ticking.
