About The Position

The Augsburg AI Fellowship hires a small cohort of Augsburg students to serve as thought-leaders and change-makers on artificial intelligence at Augsburg. Fellows advise campus leadership on the use of AI in higher education, develop peer-facing educational resources on AI issues, and share their work at a Spring 2027 AI Symposium. Throughout the year, fellows build expertise in AI ethics, literacy, and civil discourse. The position is for currently enrolled Augsburg students who have applied to and been accepted into the AI Fellows cohort and can commit to the full academic year and complete the listed deliverables. No technical background or prior AI experience is required. The position pays $16.45 per hour and includes Minnesota Sick and Safe Time and Minnesota Paid Family and Medical Leave. Student employees are not eligible for health insurance benefits.

Requirements

Currently enrolled Augsburg student in good standing.
Must have applied to and been accepted into the AI Fellows cohort.
Interest in AI, its ethical and social implications, and its role in higher education.
Ability to commit to the full academic year and complete all deliverables listed above.
No technical background or prior AI experience is required.

Responsibilities

Meet with campus leaders to shape how AI is used, or deliberately not used, in teaching, learning, and administration at Augsburg.
Attend eight 90-minute conversations over the course of the year addressing the fellowship program and AI topics relevant to the Augsburg community.
Design and carry out a project or resource that teaches the Augsburg community something about AI, on a topic of the fellow’s choosing.
Select and work with a Project Mentor who supports the fellow’s project development over the year.
Contribute to the planning and development of the Spring 2027 AI Symposium.
Deliver a presentation of the fellow’s project at the AI Symposium.
