About The Position

At GE Vernova's Applied Grid Innovation (AGI) team, the intern will contribute to research and prototyping that combines power-system expertise with advanced AI capabilities to create intelligent operational solutions for the future grid. The role focuses on evaluating AI solutions for critical utility applications, helping ensure they are accurate, reliable, explainable, and effective, where performance and trust are essential. The intern will support AGI's ongoing improvement of AI capabilities and communicate findings through reports and presentations.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Power Systems, or a related discipline.
• Experience with Python programming.
• Familiarity with machine learning evaluation concepts.
• Experience analyzing data and generating insights.
• Strong quantitative and analytical abilities.

Nice To Haves

• Experience evaluating large language models.
• Knowledge of AI benchmarking techniques.
• Experience with experiment design and statistical analysis.
• Familiarity with ML observability and model monitoring.
• Interest in deploying AI for critical infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Develop benchmarks for evaluating AI and foundation model performance.
• Design testing methodologies and evaluation frameworks.
• Create datasets and scenarios for model validation.
• Measure model quality, reliability, accuracy, and operational usefulness.
• Analyze benchmark results and identify improvement opportunities.
• Evaluate competing AI solutions across multiple dimensions.
• Support continuous improvement of AGI AI capabilities.
• Communicate findings through reports and presentations.
