About The Position

Vector Solutions is seeking an AI Engineer to build the technical foundation for AI across the organization. The AI Engineer partners with Engineering and business teams to design, build, and maintain the internal AI tools, integrations, and workflows that enable teams across Vector Solutions to work more effectively. This role is ideal for a software engineer with a passion for AI who enjoys learning quickly, experimenting with emerging technologies, and building practical solutions that improve how work gets done. In addition to developing AI-powered capabilities, the AI Engineer actively shares knowledge by documenting best practices, coaching teammates, and helping others adopt new tools and techniques. Success in this role requires curiosity, a continuous learning mindset, and a desire to translate new AI advancements into practical solutions that create value across the organization. This role is designed for someone who is eager to grow rapidly by expanding their technical expertise, taking on increasing ownership, and evolving into a trusted technical leader as both the technology and the organization continue to mature.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field preferred but not required, equivalent hands-on experience will be considered
  • 1-5 years of software engineering experience, with meaningful exposure to AI/ML tooling, LLM APIs, or AI-assisted development workflows
  • Proficiency in at least one backend language (Python preferred) and comfort working across the stack when needed
  • Direct experience with LLM APIs (Anthropic, OpenAI, or similar) including prompt engineering, tool use/function calling, and multi-turn conversation design
  • Strong systems thinking, naturally considers integration points, failure modes, and scalability when designing solutions
  • Clear written and verbal communication; able to explain architectural decisions to both engineers and non-engineers
  • Experience collaborating cross-functionally, with a genuine interest in enabling others, not just building for yourself
  • Comfortable operating with ambiguity and iterating quickly in a fast-moving AI landscape
  • This position is expected to evolve as business needs, technology, and the way we work continue to change. Success in this role requires adaptability, continuous learning, and a willingness to take on new responsibilities and initiatives that are within the scope and purpose of the position in support of the firm's strategic objectives.
