About The Position

As an AI Engineer in Workday’s Agent Factory, you will develop and integrate the intelligent feature layers behind the next generation of AI agents. The role focuses on intelligence orchestration and product delivery, connecting foundational models to user-facing products. You will implement ways for pre-trained models, including LLMs and vision APIs, to power enterprise software, and build Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines, manage orchestration frameworks, and continuously engineer prompts. Working in a cross-functional pod, you will collaborate with engineers, product managers, and designers to deliver responsive, reliable, user-centric agentic workflows embedded in the Workday platform.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience, including developing, testing, and deploying production code.
  • At least 1 year of professional experience working with LLMs, foundational models, or modern AI APIs, or a strong, demonstrable portfolio of applied project work in this area.
  • Demonstrated experience with AI orchestration concepts, such as LangChain or LlamaIndex, and prompt engineering for LLM-powered features.
  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience with API integration, backend application development, and managing data pipelines.
  • At least 2 years of experience with core development languages such as Python and software engineering workflows including CI/CD, testing frameworks, and version control.
  • Strong interest in user experience and applying AI to practical customer problems.
  • Familiarity with vector databases, semantic search, and prompt optimization techniques.
  • Experience with data exploration, transformation, and integrating varied data sources to contextually ground AI outputs.
  • Ability to collaborate with software developers, product managers, and UX designers.
  • Eagerness to stay current with developments in generative AI, autonomous agents, and LLM application design.
