AI Enablement Program Manager

AbridgeSan Francisco, CA
$176,000 - $195,000

About The Position

Abridge was founded in 2018 with the mission of powering deeper understanding in healthcare. Our AI-powered platform was purpose-built for medical conversations, improving clinical documentation efficiencies while enabling clinicians to focus on what matters most—their patients. Our enterprise-grade technology transforms patient-clinician conversations into structured clinical notes in real-time, with deep EMR integrations. Powered by Linked Evidence and our purpose-built, auditable AI, we are the only company that maps AI-generated summaries to ground truth, helping providers quickly trust and verify the output. As pioneers in generative AI for healthcare, we are setting the industry standards for the responsible deployment of AI across health systems. We are a growing team of practicing MDs, AI scientists, PhDs, creatives, technologists, and engineers working together to empower people and make care make more sense. We have offices located in the Mission District in San Francisco, the SoHo neighborhood of New York, and East Liberty in Pittsburgh. As the AI Enablement Program Manager, you will own Abridge’s company-wide strategy for AI tool adoption, literacy, and safe use. You will design and run the programs, frameworks, and embedded enablement loops that help Abridge move fast with AI without creating compliance, security, or accuracy risk. You will operate at the intersection of IT, Security, and the business, reporting to the Head of IT and working closely with the CISO and functional leads across the company. You will own the intake process for AI tool requests, manage the lifecycle of approved tools and connectors, and translate the governance framework into practical enablement that employees actually use. Abridge operates in a healthcare AI environment under HIPAA, SOC 2, and FedRAMP Moderate. AI enablement here means enabling people to move fast within a real compliance boundary.

Requirements

  • 5 - 8 years in a technical program management, enablement, or IT role with a focus on technology adoption.
  • Direct experience with AI or enterprise SaaS rollouts required.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with generative AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, or equivalent), agentic workflows, and prompt engineering. You don’t need to write production code, but you need to understand how these systems work well enough to teach and govern them.
  • Familiarity with data handling requirements in regulated environments (HIPAA experience strongly preferred). You understand why the guardrails exist and can communicate that without being preachy.
  • Proven ability to design, launch, and iterate on multi-stakeholder programs. Comfortable owning a roadmap, managing intake queues, and driving cross-functional deliverables without a large team.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication. Able to translate complex AI and security concepts into language that engineers, clinicians, executives, and ops staff can all act on. Strong presentation and facilitation skills required.
  • Comfortable defining metrics, building tracking mechanisms, and using data to make program decisions. Not a data engineer, but fluent enough to instrument and analyze.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a healthcare, life sciences, or other regulated environment.
  • Familiarity with MCP (Model Context Protocol), agentic AI architectures, or enterprise AI connector governance.
  • Experience managing or contributing to an AI Champions or internal community of practice program.
  • Background in IT Operations, Security, or enterprise SaaS governance.
  • Experience with Claude CoWork, Claude Projects, or Anthropic enterprise tooling.

Responsibilities

  • Build and continuously improve the company-wide AI enablement program, covering onboarding to AI tools, team-level deep dives, AI Champions, and recurring education formats like the AI Hype Machine series.
  • Embed directly with business teams to co-create AI use cases, identify friction points, and run hands-on sessions that build durable capability rather than one-time awareness.
  • Develop training content on prompt engineering, responsible AI use, agentic workflows, and LLM fundamentals calibrated to non-technical audiences.
  • Own the content library: tooling guides, use case playbooks, safe-use decision trees, onboarding materials, and recorded walkthroughs. Keep it current as the tooling landscape changes.
  • Own the AI tool intake and evaluation process, the single front door for any new AI tool, connector, or integration request. Evaluate requests against BAA status, data classification, contractual constraints, and compliance posture.
  • Maintain the Abridge Global SaaS AI Matrix: approved tools, approved connectors, permitted data types, and explicitly not-approved tools. Keep it accurate and make it easy to use.
  • Coordinate with IT, Security, and Legal on BAA execution for AI vendors, tracking coverage and identifying gaps proactively as the agentic tooling landscape evolves.
  • Identify and address shadow AI usage across the organization through policy clarity, fast intake turnaround, and strong communication, making the governed path easier than the ungoverned one.
  • Define and track adoption metrics across approved tools: active usage rates, session depth, intake request volume, and time-to-approval. Report to IT leadership and CISO on a recurring cadence.
  • Instrument enablement programs with pre/post fluency assessments, qualitative feedback loops, and outcome proxies. Translate data into program improvements and executive-level reporting.
  • Partner with the CISO and Enterprise Security Director to ensure enablement programs reflect current policy, enforce correct data handling behavior, and surface emerging risk patterns.
  • Work across Engineering, Product, Clinical, and Operations teams to drive adoption of approved tooling and embed AI literacy into how those teams actually work, not just what they know.
