About The Position

Artera is hiring an AI Builder to construct the agentic systems responsible for delivering exceptional patient experiences for their clients. This includes tasks such as scheduling, referral coordination, medication refills, billing, and payment estimation. The role involves being a fully contributing member of a customer-facing squad, leveraging AI-native fluency to meet end-to-end customer needs. Responsibilities span from customer discovery to production operation, onboarding new customers, and implementing enhancements that align with technical advancements. The ideal candidate will possess boundless creativity, an unmatched desire to deliver world-class solutions, and a high degree of initiative and accountability. At this level, the role requires independent ownership of customer outcomes with moderate supervision, combining the curiosity of a product manager, the discipline of a project manager, and the agentic fluency of an engineer. The position also involves developing subject-matter expertise, building long-term relationships with senior healthcare executives, mentoring newer builders, and advocating for novel agentic techniques to enhance customer success.

Requirements

  • 1 - 3 years of professional software engineering, data science, machine learning, product management, product design, or technical project management experience, or equivalent demonstrated output.
  • Demonstrated AI-native fluency with measurable leverage — ability to produce output on par with multiple traditional engineers using AI-native tools (e.g., Claude Code in the terminal) as the primary working environment; ability to learn new technology quickly
  • Track record of shipping solutions end-to-end that ran reliably in production, including the enhancements that followed.
  • Ability to work directly and productively with customers — onboarding them, owning the relationship, and translating customer conversations into technical decisions.
  • Curiosity of a product manager and discipline of a project manager: asks "why" before "how," scopes and sequences work, communicates status, and lands the work.
  • Written and verbal communication sufficient to present complicated concepts to teammates, managers, and customers with the appropriate level of detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach and support less senior teammates, and to raise the bar on the solutions the squad delivers to customers.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized and have the ability to provide proof of full-time, long-term authorization to work in the United States. We are unable to provide visa sponsorship or support visa transfers now or in the future.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in healthcare technology, digital health, or patient-facing products.
  • Hands-on experience building production agentic systems, RAG pipelines, or MCP-based tool integrations.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA, HITRUST, or FedRAMP compliance considerations in builds.
  • Experience with EHR integrations (Epic, athena, eClinicalWorks, NextGen) or call center / CCaaS integrations.
  • Experience writing evals and quality benchmarks for LLM-driven systems.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end delivery and realized outcomes for named customers.
  • Represent Artera credibly in customer conversations, and raise the bar on the customer solutions the squad ships.
  • Identify customer pain and create a roadmap for solving their problems.
  • Align stakeholders, connect necessary data pipelines, and manage fast and painless onboarding onto our solutions.
  • Build novel solutions for named customers; translate their operational reality into technical solutions that you yourself architect and code with our internal agentic systems.
  • Instrument, monitor, and improve the reliability of what you ship; create enhancements based on what production actually tells you; participate in on-call where applicable.
  • Develop and maintain subject-matter expertise in your customer segments (e.g. primary care, community health, orthopedics) and integration surface (e.g., scheduling, referrals, patient messaging, EHR/CCaaS).
  • Mentor and onboard newer builders; review their work with a mindset for raising the bar on agentic techniques and customer orientation.
  • Contribute to squad-level prioritization and planning in partnership with the Head of Segment.
