About The Position

Konare Law is a Maryland-based immigration law firm that is investing in technology to improve efficiency and accuracy. They are building an internal system to automate routine tasks, allowing attorneys and staff to focus more on clients. This new, full-time position is for a hands-on builder who will be responsible for artificial intelligence and automation at the firm. The role involves automating and connecting existing tools and workflows, and will evolve into designing and building custom software that will form the core of the firm's operations. The position is on-site, working closely with attorneys and staff to understand firm operations and translate that knowledge into reliable systems. The focus is on building automation and software development, with general IT infrastructure handled by an external provider.

Requirements

  • Strong programming ability, including designing, writing, testing, and maintaining software independently (e.g., in Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or similar).
  • Real, hands-on experience with AI tools and automation platforms, including large language models like Claude, and a track record of using them to automate work.
  • Experience integrating and connecting software systems through APIs and automation tools.
  • Judgment to work with sensitive, confidential client information responsibly and securely.
  • Discretion and trustworthiness.
  • Ability to be a self-starter, take a general goal, ask the right questions, and deliver working solutions without micromanagement.
  • Clear communication skills, able to explain technical work to non-technical staff in plain language.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience working in or with a law firm, or with legal, immigration, or other document-heavy, deadline-driven environments.
  • Familiarity with data security and privacy best practices, especially around confidential or privileged information.
  • Experience building internal tools, dashboards, or workflow systems from the ground up.

Responsibilities

  • Automate existing tools and workflows, including client intake, document generation, court filings, deadline and case tracking, billing, and client communication, using AI and automation platforms like Claude.
  • Eliminate repetitive, manual tasks and design dependable workflows that are easy for non-technical staff to use.
  • Connect current tools, documents, and systems to enable data sharing.
  • Design and build custom software and internal tools tailored to the firm's specific operations, developed incrementally.
  • Continuously maintain and refine the firm's systems, owning, maintaining, and expanding the evolving system.
  • Train attorneys and staff on new tools and document system functionality.
