About The Position

Workana is seeking an experienced AI Architect for an innovative client that builds and deploys enterprise AI applications on cloud infrastructure. The role leads the architectural design and implementation strategy for enterprise-grade AI solutions hosted on Microsoft Azure, combining software engineering expertise with AI application and cloud architecture. The architect will help build scalable, secure systems powered by large language models, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and autonomous AI agents. The position serves as a technical leadership role, collaborating with software engineers, data scientists, and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into resilient architectures, establish standards, and guide technical decisions across distributed teams. This is a fully remote opportunity for professionals based in Latin America, working with an international team in an English-speaking environment. It is a long-term independent contractor agreement. No additional benefits such as paid time off or health insurance are provided.

Requirements

Strong software engineering background with proven experience building full-stack and backend systems in C#, Python, and React with TypeScript.
Hands-on experience designing and implementing cloud-native solutions on Microsoft Azure, including AKS, Azure Networking, and Azure AI Foundry.
Practical experience with AI application frameworks such as LangChain, Semantic Kernel, or comparable tools.
Solid architectural understanding of RAG, AI agent design, and workflow orchestration.
Strong knowledge of REST APIs, microservices architectures, containerization, and CI/CD pipelines.
Proven ability to design secure, scalable, maintainable, and high-performance distributed systems.
Advanced analytical, problem-solving, and architectural decision-making skills.
Fluent English at C1 level, with the ability to lead technical discussions, collaborate with international stakeholders, and produce clear architectural documentation.
Must be based in Latin America.

Responsibilities

Design end-to-end AI application architectures using Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Azure Container Apps, Blob Storage, Azure Networking, and Azure AI Foundry.
Architect secure enterprise applications incorporating LLMs, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), AI agents, and workflow orchestration.
Design backend and full-stack solutions using Python, C#, React, TypeScript, FastAPI, LangChain, and Semantic Kernel.
Define cloud-native deployment architectures using containers, microservices, REST APIs, and automated CI/CD pipelines.
Apply security-by-design principles, identity and access management, and secure networking practices to protect enterprise workloads.
Evaluate architectural trade-offs to optimize cloud infrastructure, AI inference workloads, application performance, and operational costs.
Establish architectural standards, evaluate emerging AI technologies, and mentor cross-functional engineering teams through technical decisions.
Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, and cross-functional stakeholders in an international remote environment.
