This position is focused on the development and support of agronomy team members as well as relationships with internal and external clients. The essential general duties and responsibilities are listed below. Other duties may be as assigned. This role requires the ability to perform all responsibilities required of an agronomy field manager plus additional leadership duties. The position involves managing work for crew members, ensuring proper discipline and rewards, and developing motivated and effective crews. Daily paperwork completion is required. Demonstrating role model behaviors on ethics and integrity, and positively promoting Mainscape’s Standard of Excellence is essential. The role includes organizing, supervising, leading, and training employees to complete assigned projects within established guidelines and time frames. There is shared responsibility for checking and changing oil and grease in basic equipment, supervising truck/trailer setup daily, and managing equipment and supplies for landscape maintenance projects. Overseeing that all equipment has proper safety devices installed and operational, maintaining equipment in good operating condition, and operating light/heavy equipment effectively and according to all regulations are key. Reporting any problems with job site or equipment immediately is crucial. Ensuring proper task-specific PPE is being properly utilized and maintained at all times by crew members, following all company policies & procedures, including safety guidelines/standards, and ensuring a safe environment for other workers and vendors, clients, and all employees are paramount. The role requires interfacing with clients when needed and establishing relationships with customers. Quality control, demonstrating the ability to recognize and report irrigation deficiencies, and communicating with the Operations Manager and Account Manager regarding the status of assigned job sites are also important. Training responsibilities include identifying 50 most frequently used plants by common names and demonstrating knowledge of their cultural requirements, and participating in training programs for basic pest control procedures. Specific duties related to fertilization include demonstrating knowledge of the proper procedure for emergency spill cleanup, demonstrating knowledge of the basic elements of fertilizers, and being able to train field staff in the application of chemicals.
