Agronomy Internship, Crop Scouting and Precision Technology
About The Position
At AGRILAND FS, our internship program develops future leaders who possess critical thinking, problem solving, communication and interpersonal skills, who want to grow a career with the best in the industry! The position offers hands-on agronomy training using integrated pest management strategies, strong exposure to precision farming, and excellent interaction with customers and employees to improve communication skills. This summer-long work experience will look great on your resume and provides exposure to a premier agriculture retail cooperative offering a variety of career choices. Interns will be provided with a company vehicle to use while scouting, along with scouting tools and information. There is an opportunity to experience added training beyond crop scouting and learn more on topics related to agronomy products and business.
Requirements
- Foundation in agriculture with the ability to learn quickly on the job
- Proven experience working under little supervision
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent driving record
- Strong customer service skills
- Strong maturity demonstrating excellent decision-making skills
Responsibilities
- Learn crop scouting strategies from an experienced agronomy professional
- Observe crop condition and pest concerns in contracted acres using crop scouting and integrated pest management strategies
- Utilize GPS while scouting
- Walk fields to get the best sample of crop condition
- Write reports on every field scouted and present reports to assigned customer / crops specialist and precision farming coordinator
- Operate a company vehicle in a safe and appropriate manner
- Assist location team members as assigned
