Charlotte Country Club is seeking a seasonal Agronomy Intern for hands-on experience in golf course management. The internship begins in mid-May and is expected to continue through early August. Continued employment after the internship may be discussed with the Director of Agronomy based on business needs, performance, and position availability. Interns generally work 45–55 hours per week, with exceptions around holidays and the Club’s event schedule. Availability on weekends and holidays is expected. The internship provides experience operating mowing and aerification equipment; managing moisture on bentgrass greens and bermudagrass fairways; calibrating sprayers and spreaders; applying chemicals and fertilizer; and participating in capital projects such as irrigation and drainage installation. The course includes an 18-hole Donald Ross layout and practice facility, 007XL bentgrass greens, Tahoma-31 fairways, tees and approaches, fine fescue native areas, newly constructed bunkers, Rain Bird irrigation, moisture and temperature sensors, and slit drainage in fairways. Candidates must be currently enrolled in and actively pursuing a degree in Agronomy, Horticulture, or Turfgrass Management. The Club describes its interns as detail-oriented, accountable, organized, passionate team players who are committed to a career in the golf course industry and aspire to become Golf Course Superintendents. A minimum of one year of experience is preferred. Candidates must successfully complete a pre-employment background check and drug screen; the workplace is drug-free.
