About The Position

This role is part of the Augusta National Internship Program, a 12-month, paid program based onsite in Augusta, Georgia. The program provides Interns with hands-on professional experience and meaningful opportunities to contribute within their respective areas while gaining exposure to Augusta National Golf Club and the Masters Tournament. Housing assistance is available for this Internship. The Agronomy Internship at Augusta National Golf Club provides a basic understanding of golf course maintenance operations and practices. The Agronomy Intern will develop their knowledge of agronomy and equipment operation while supporting the Agronomy Operations staff.

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge and operational experience of turf equipment
  • Basic understanding of the fundamentals of golf course etiquette in a private atmosphere
  • Currently enrolled in, or a recent graduate of, an accredited Turfgrass Management program or related field, with the ability to commit to a 12-month internship.
  • Previous experience in landscaping or grounds keeping environment required
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and/or successfully completes the Club’s internal motor vehicle training program

Responsibilities

  • Assists in pesticide and fertilizer applications.
  • Performs calibrations of spreader and sprayer units.
  • Mows greens, approaches, collars, fairways, second cut, etc. with appropriate equipment in a safe and timely manner.
  • Portrays an image which reflects positively on all Augusta National members, guests, patrons, and fellow employees.
  • Administers Augusta National water management philosophy for summer and seasonal situations with regards to Bent grass, Perennial ryegrass, and various varieties of Bermuda grasses.
  • Assists in maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient work environment at all times.
  • Operates, inspects, and cleans equipment in strict accordance with Augusta National operational and safety guidelines, report unsafe equipment or activities to appropriate supervisor.
  • Identifies disease and pest issues using Augusta National resources and reports them to management.
  • Assists in irrigation repair and maintenance.
  • Proposes improvement ideas to the Agronomy Management team.
  • Properly utilizes safety equipment provided by Augusta National.
  • Works in a manner which does not disrupt the members and their guests.
  • Performs all other duties deemed by management to be an integral part of the job.
