About The Position

Leads the execution of agronomy and innovation strategy at the division level by developing a high-performing team that delivers expert, science-based and data-driven solutions. Provides strategic leadership to support commercial objectives, drive innovation adoption, strengthen agronomic capabilities, and ensure recommendations and programs are scientifically sound, regionally relevant, and operationally aligned. Supporting South Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas, and Oklahoma.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Soil Science, Plant Science, or related discipline required.
  • 10+ years of progressive agronomic experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing people, teams, graduate researchers, or other technical professionals.
  • Experience developing and mentoring technical talent.
  • Experience leading agronomic programs, research initiatives, or innovation efforts that support commercial objectives.
  • Advanced expertise in crop production systems, agronomic research, field diagnostics, and data-driven decision making.
  • Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills required.
  • Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and leadership skills with the ability to influence audiences ranging from growers and sales teams to executive leadership and academic partners.
  • Ability to balance scientific rigor with practical business application.

Nice To Haves

  • PhD preferred.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and significant industry experience may be considered.
  • Experience collaborating with universities, researchers, growers, and industry stakeholders preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Help establish and execute the strategic direction for Agronomy and Innovation initiatives across the division, ensuring alignment with commercial goals and customer needs.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing agronomy enablement team through coaching, mentoring, performance management, and capability development.
  • Oversee the SGS MAP (Maximizing Agronomic Performance) program and support the development, implementation, and evaluation of agronomic innovation initiatives, including products, fertilizer programs, and digital agriculture technologies.
  • Drive scientific validation and field adoption of emerging technologies through research partnerships, field trials, and agronomic performance evaluations.
  • Develop and deliver advanced technical training that enhances agronomic expertise, consultative selling skills, and customer-focused solution development.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with universities, researchers, industry organizations, and private consultants to strengthen Simplot's technical leadership and industry influence.
  • Provide advanced technical guidance and oversight for crop claims, agronomic recommendations, and operational processes to ensure integrity, continuous improvement, and risk mitigation.
  • Partner with commercial leaders to identify opportunities that improve customer outcomes, drive sales growth, and support division objectives.
