About The Position

The Career and Technical Education (CTE) Agriculture Teacher is responsible for providing high-quality instruction in agriculture, plant systems, agribusiness, and related career pathways. The teacher develops and delivers engaging, standards-based curriculum that prepares students for college, careers, industry certifications, and workforce opportunities in agriculture and natural resources. The position includes extended contract responsibilities for program management, industry partnerships, student leadership development, greenhouse/containers for hydroponic farming and laboratory supervision, work-based learning experiences, and summer program activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Valid Arkansas Educator License with Agriculture Education certification or eligibility to obtain certification.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of agricultural education and industry practices.
  • Ability to meet all state and district requirements for employment.
  • Strong desire to expose students to career opportunities in the field.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver standards-based instruction aligned with Arkansas Career and Technical Education Agriculture pathway standards.
  • Provide hands-on learning experiences in agriculture, plant science, agribusiness, greenhouse or container operations, and related agricultural fields.
  • Assess student performance, maintain accurate records, and use data to improve student achievement and program outcomes.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and effective learning environment, including agricultural laboratories, greenhouses, gardens, and related facilities.
  • Manage equipment, supplies, inventory, and instructional resources to support program operations and student learning.
  • Coordinate and supervise student participation in Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs), including FFA, leadership activities, competitions, and community service projects.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with business, industry, postsecondary institutions, and community organizations to support career exploration and workforce development.
  • Facilitate work-based learning opportunities such as industry tours, guest speakers, job shadowing, internships, apprenticeships, and industry certification attainment.
  • Participate in student recruitment, program promotion, grant implementation, professional development, and activities that support the growth and sustainability of the agriculture program.
  • Perform extended-contract responsibilities, including summer supervision of agricultural facilities, student projects, and program activities, as assigned by the district.
