About The Position

As the largest industry in Arkansas, the Arkansas Department of Agriculture is dedicated to the development and implementation of policies and programs for Arkansas agriculture and forestry to keep its farmers and ranchers competitive in national and international markets while ensuring safe food, fiber, and forest products for the citizens of the state and nation. The Department is organized into five Divisions: Forestry Division, Livestock and Poultry Division, Natural Resources Division, Plant Industries Division, and Shared Services Division.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years’ experience in agricultural programs, farm management, natural resources conservation, or program coordination.
  • Understanding of agriculture, natural resource conservation, and farming operations.
  • Familiarity with state and federal agricultural and environmental regulations.
  • Ability to analyze data, prepare reports, and track program performance.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects efficiently.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for public engagement, report writing, and public collaboration.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, communications, marketing, business, or a related field.
  • Experience in marketing, program coordination, public relations, or agriculture‑related work is preferred.
  • Strong communication and public‑speaking skills; comfortable representing the agency in public settings.
  • Excellent writing and content‑creation abilities (social media, press releases, web copy).
  • Familiarity with Arkansas agriculture, farmers markets, local food systems, or small‑business promotion is a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work independently.
  • Strong organizational and customer‑service skills.
  • Proficiency with social media platforms, basic graphic design tools, and website content management systems.
  • Comfortable working with data, tracking metrics, and preparing reports.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning, development, and execution of agricultural and natural resource programs.
  • Monitor program effectiveness, track key performance indicators, and recommend improvements.
  • Coordinate logistics for program activities, workshops, training sessions, and outreach events.
  • Maintain accurate program records, reports, and documentation for compliance and evaluation purposes.
  • Respond to inquiries from the public, industry professionals, and government officials regarding program details.
  • Assist in the development of educational materials, presentations, and informational resources.
  • Ensure program activities align with state and federal agricultural and environmental laws, policies, and best practices.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports, grant applications, and regulatory filings.
  • Collaborate with compliance officers and inspectors to ensure adherence to guidelines.
  • Support the management of program budgets, grant funding, and financial tracking.
  • Assist in the identification of funding opportunities, grant applications, and resource allocations.
