About The Position

This position is for an Agriculture Mechanics Science Instructor for AREA 8 for the 2026-2027 school year. The instructor will be part of a two-teacher department and is expected to possess strong agriculture mechanics knowledge and skills, along with effective classroom and lab management. The role requires a strong work ethic, goal-driven attitude, and a passion for delivering course content and engaging in FFA activities. The instructor will serve as an advisor to the local Future Farmers of America (FFA) chapter, guiding students in leadership, citizenship, cooperative, career development, and competitive activities at various levels. This includes developing student leaders through camps, conventions, and community activities, training successful LDE and CDE teams, and supervising agriculture mechanics SAE projects with home visits and stock show participation. The position also involves traveling with students to FFA events, assisting with records, awards, and scholarships, and maintaining Ag facilities. The instructor is expected to be an excellent role model and build relationships through FFA activities, complying with all district policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent wage-earning experience as required by state certification
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate with appropriate endorsement
  • Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Possess strong agriculture mechanics knowledge and skills as well as classroom and lab management.
  • Serve as advisor to local Future Farmers of America (FFA) chapter, including planning and conducting leadership, citizenship, cooperative, career development, and competitive activities for students at local, district, area, and state level.
  • Train multiple successful LDE and CDE teams.
  • Engage, advise, and supervise agriculture mechanics SAE projects of students including home visits and participate in county and major stock shows.
  • Participate in traveling with students to FFA events, competitions, and activities.
  • Assist students with record book, application awards, and scholarships.
  • Maintain Ag facilities properly and teach students to do the same.
  • Organize and manage fund raisers
  • Comply with all district policies and administrative requirements.
  • Be an excellent role model for students, impact students, and build relationships through FFA activities.
