About The Position

High School Welding and Agriculture Science Teacher responsible for teaching welding and agricultural science courses, supervising hands-on shop activities, promoting safety, and helping students develop technical, academic, and leadership skills.

Requirements

  • Experience and understanding of welding and Agriculture Science.
  • Use and understanding of technology in the teaching of welding and Agriculture Science.
  • Knowledge of specific curriculum content for subject area.
  • Knowledgeable and skilled not only in content but in skills, hands on engagement in learning tasks, learning styles, and cooperative learning approaches.
  • Skilled in lesson plan development, implementation of learning activities, behavior management, assessment, and teaching to individual student skill levels.
  • Ability to work as a team member and communicate effectively.
  • Willingness to work with the local FFA chapter.
  • Ability to work well with students.
  • Ability to work with adolescents.
  • Ability to work in a team and to communicate effectively and maintain positive working relationships with staff, students, and parents.
  • Ability to read English and comprehend complex technical language.
  • Ability to write memoranda, correspondence, lessons plans, reports, and student achievement summaries in English.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-to-one and small group situations.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed, but basic, written or oral instructions in English.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisor(s), staff, students, parents and community.
  • A valid teaching license (or ability to obtain) CTE Licensure.

Responsibilities

  • Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and times as designated.
  • Plan a program of study that meets the interests, needs, and abilities of the students and follow established curriculum as written by the district and the state.
  • Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and is appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
  • Prepare for classes assigned and show written evidence of preparation upon request of the supervisor.
  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media consistent within the limitations of the location and resources provided by the district.
  • Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning the academic and behavioral progress of the students.
  • Cooperate with other members of the staff.
  • Attend staff meetings and other meetings as required.
  • Strive to maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Assist the administration in implementing all policies and rules of the school and district.
  • Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and maintain such records as required by law and district policy.
  • Take all reasonable precautions to provide for the health and safety of the students and to protect equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
