This dynamic role oversees compliance, agricultural administration, and analysis at our 550-acre certified organic, productive olive oil ranch. Reporting directly to the President and working closely with multiple colleagues from many departments within the company, this job requires thoughtful organization, critical thinking, and strong communication skills. Requirements

  • Adequate knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, planning, resource allocation).
  • Strong analytical skills to support cost management and process improvement opportunities.
  • Working knowledge of financial analysis principles.
  • Exceptional communicator.
  • Superior organizational skills; time management, planning, scheduling, and meeting deadlines.
  • Strong computer skills including a high level of proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Proven data analysis skills required.

Nice To Haves

  • Project management experience is preferred.
  • Experience working in a small farm environment is desired.
  • A degree in Agricultural Business Management is a strong plus.
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish and English) a plus as well.

Responsibilities

  • Records, tracks, and analyzes all input and production data for the farm and Frantoio (mill).
  • Makes recommendations for farming cultural practices based on input and production trends.
  • Tracks and reports all fertilizer, pesticide, and irrigation usage; orders all farming supplies.
  • Develops work orders for fertilizer and pesticide applications, posts all applications for applicators and farmworkers.
  • Oversees the organic certification through CCOF for the farm and mill.
  • Submits the annual Operator ID information to the County of Marin and oversees annual pesticide headquarters inspection.
  • Tracks all harvest data and provides insightful analysis of harvest trends and factors impacting harvest yield.
  • Works with the Farming Supervisor and President to develop and implement greater efficiencies in the farming system.
  • Tracks all compost data for internal usage and CCOF reports.
  • Submits annual soil and tissue samples for nutrient analysis.
  • Tracks all water usage data for the potable water system and the pond system overseen by the State Water Resources Control Board.
  • Organizes and oversees all custom olive milling customers and scheduling to maximize efficiency and minimize cost.
  • Orders all ingredients for the Agrumato method olive oils, working to negotiate the lowest price for the highest quality.
  • Tracks all olive milling data and analyzes olive oil production trends; makes recommendations for improvement opportunities.
  • Submits all data to the CDFA/OOCC for mill and oil production compliance.
  • Submits all olive oil for annual laboratory analysis and annual competitions.
  • Submits all quarterly reporting to the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB).
  • Submits all wine labels to the TTB.
  • Works closely with the winemaker and the Finance department to track all wine production and production costs from the grape source through bottling.
  • Organizes quarterly meetings with all wine stakeholders within the company to keep all wine development projects on track.
  • Analyzes previous year’s production versus sales to make grape buying recommendations.
  • Oversees, organizes, and executes the ranch’s safety program, including for pesticide applicators, forklift training, annual hearing tests and all safety meetings for each department (Sales/Marketing, Accounting, Riverfront Warehouse, Farming, Garden, Maintenance, Housekeeping, Hospitality, etc.).
  • Oversees and submits all local, state, and federal permits and licenses for food and wine production.
  • Ensures that the Ranch’s MSDS binder is current and accurate.
  • Submits monthly reports for the CA CRV recycling program.
  • In partnership with Human Resources, manages Workers' Compensation program for the company.
  • Looks for new ways to streamline workflows and increase data entry efficiency for on-farm record keeping.
  • Orders supplies for various departments in the company.
  • Works with budget heads to develop the annual budgets for various departments in the company; ensures that each estate department is on track with their budgets on a monthly basis (farming, gardening, mechanic shop, etc.).
  • Codes and submits invoices for various departments within the company.
  • Reviews and approves timecards for various employees on the ranch.
