About The Position

Support the Bank’s lending efforts through physical field inspection of assigned farming operation relationships, to assess agricultural practices, financial controls and progress of seasonal crops and development of permanent plantings. Review crop and development budgets to help assess a primary source of repayment and security for Bank originated farm loans.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations and interpret and draw bar graphs.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Basic familiarity and a working knowledge of various software programs, including Word and Excel, required for valuation and budget review functions, as well as crop inspection reporting.
  • Current CA Driver’s License
  • Social and interactive skills, plus ability to be self-motivated and organized.
  • Must be able to schedule accounts, complete the inspections and complete the required reporting within the timeframe agreed upon by management.
  • Agricultural field/crop inspection and equipment valuation experience, plus budget preparation and analysis experience.
  • Ability to travel is required as farm inspections will take place throughout California.
  • The incumbent is required to spend approximately 10-20% of the time driving.

Responsibilities

  • Complies with, and stays abreast of, all policies and procedures, federal and state laws applicable to the job.
  • Perform physical crop/field inspections for agribusiness loans originated by the Agribusiness Group and by other Business Financial Centers.
  • Analyze and adjust crop budgets and permanent planting development budgets.
  • Calculate Crop Equity Margins, to assess liquidity in the farming operation and to assist in assessing collateral coverage.
  • Prepare comprehensive, well-written and timely Crop/Development Inspection Reports and Budget Reviews.
  • Analyze and assess Borrower risk to water availability and drought.
  • Maintain updated information on industry crop commodity prices, to assist with budget review requirements.
  • Perform asset based/formula collateral audits for agricultural processors or commodity brokers, to analyze a Borrower’s or Prospect’s quality and potential risk in trading assets as collateral.
  • Notify supervisor or management of concerns with farming practices, or with development of the crop or permanent plantings, and recommend necessary corrective actions based on inspection results and budget reviews.
  • Maintain updated crop/field inspection monitoring log for assigned relationship.
  • Manage the contracting and review work performed by outside, independent crop specialists.
  • Maintain an accurate log of travel, inspection and report preparation time for each assignment completed.
  • Provide, present, and promote the Citizens Experience to all external and internal customers.
  • Other duties as assigned.
