About The Position

TENICA is seeking an Agile System Engineer to provide systems engineering support for the development, integration, modernization, and delivery of complex enterprise systems and mission-critical capabilities for a government customer in Chantilly, Virginia. The role supports systems engineering in Agile development environments, keeping technical requirements, system architectures, and operational capabilities aligned with mission objectives. The engineer works with Agile development teams, product owners, program managers, government stakeholders, and technical teams to develop and manage system requirements; coordinate engineering activities; support planning, integration, testing, and readiness; and transition developed capabilities into operational environments. The position also supports configuration and requirements management, applies Digital Engineering and MBSE concepts, and produces technical documentation, assessments, metrics, and status reports. An active TS/SCI clearance with CI Poly is required.

Requirements

Experience performing systems engineering activities in Agile software development or enterprise IT environments.
Demonstrated experience developing, managing, and refining technical requirements, including Agile Epics, Features, User Stories, and system-level specifications.
Knowledge of Agile development methodologies and their application to systems engineering, integration, testing, and delivery.
Experience supporting requirements traceability, system architecture analysis, interface management, and technical documentation.
Familiarity with Agile planning, backlog management, technical reviews, and iterative development processes.
Experience coordinating technical dependencies and integration across multidisciplinary engineering or development teams.
Understanding of systems engineering lifecycle processes, including requirements analysis, design, integration, verification, validation, and operational transition.
Experience identifying technical risks, assessing system performance, and recommending engineering improvements.
Ability to collaborate effectively with Agile teams, product owners, government stakeholders, and technical leadership.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, technical documentation, and communication skills.
Active Top Secret/SCI clearance with a Counterintelligence (CI) Polygraph.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field.
Experience supporting DoD, Intelligence Community, or other federal government Agile systems engineering programs.
Knowledge of Agile frameworks and practices, including Scrum, Kanban, or SAFe.
Experience using Agile planning and requirements management tools such as JIRA, Confluence, DOORS, or equivalent platforms.
Familiarity with MBSE, Digital Engineering, and enterprise architecture frameworks.
Experience supporting hybrid and multi-cloud environments, enterprise services, microservices, APIs, and distributed systems.
Knowledge of CI/CD, DevSecOps, and automated testing practices.
Experience supporting Agile increment planning, solution demonstrations, integration testing, and system readiness assessments.
Professional certifications such as SAFe Agilist, Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), INCOSE CSEP, or equivalent Agile or systems engineering credentials.
Junior to senior positions are available, depending on experience.

Responsibilities

Provide Agile systems engineering support for developing, integrating, modernizing, and delivering complex enterprise systems and mission-critical capabilities.
Support systems engineering activities in Agile environments and align requirements, architectures, and operational capabilities with mission objectives.
Develop, analyze, refine, and manage Epics, Features, User Stories, functional requirements, and interface specifications.
Collaborate with development teams, product owners, program managers, and technical stakeholders to identify requirements, set priorities, and coordinate system-level engineering.
Support increment planning, backlog refinement, technical reviews, and solution demonstrations.
Maintain requirements traceability across architectures, development activities, integration milestones, and verification and validation efforts.
Evaluate architectures, interfaces, technical dependencies, and capability gaps to identify opportunities to improve interoperability, scalability, and operational efficiency.
Support integration of enterprise services, cloud technologies, distributed systems, microservices, APIs, and automated deployment capabilities.
Coordinate cross-team engineering activities and synchronize dependencies, interfaces, and schedules.
Support planning and execution of system integration, testing, verification, validation, and readiness activities within iterative development cycles.
Review technical documentation, test plans, use cases, test results, and demonstrations to assess system performance against requirements.
Identify and assess technical risks, issues, and dependencies, and recommend mitigation strategies and corrective actions.
Support configuration management, technical baseline reviews, change requests, and requirements management.
Apply Digital Engineering and Model-Based Systems Engineering concepts to architecture analysis, requirements management, and technical decision-making.
Develop and maintain technical documentation, engineering assessments, Agile metrics, and program status reports.
Support transition of developed capabilities into operational environments, ensuring compatibility with enterprise architectures and mission requirements.
