About The Position

LMI is seeking an Agile Coach / Trainer Level IV to strengthen Agile delivery practices and Atlassian tool proficiency across Department of Veterans Affairs teams and a geographically distributed workforce. The role combines team assessment, practical coaching, interactive instruction, and sustainable adoption strategies to help organizations use Agile methods and Jira more effectively. The Agile Coach / Trainer assesses current team practices, leads instructor-led and virtual workshops, and coaches Scrum Masters, Product Owners, delivery teams, and managers through changes in planning, backlog management, ceremonies, flow, and reporting. In partnership with instructional designers and analysts, the coach tailors instruction and follow-up support to demonstrated readiness. This is not a classroom-only role. The coach observes team behavior, helps remove practical barriers, reinforces skills after training, and builds communities that can sustain improvement independently. The successful candidate balances common enterprise standards with the distinct missions and operating contexts of different teams. The position is remote and supports Department of Veterans Affairs teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in education, organizational development, business administration, information systems, or a related field.

  • Hands-on Jira Cloud proficiency and practical mastery of Scrum and Agile team practices.
  • Strong virtual facilitation, coaching, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a favorable Public Trust determination and satisfy applicable federal personnel vetting, security, privacy, accessibility, and data-handling requirements.
  • Ability to adapt Agile instruction to adult learners with varied technical experience and facilitate constructive conversations with skeptical, change-resistant, or change-fatigued teams.
  • Experience defining practical measures of team maturity, coaching progress, and adoption with supporting evidence.

Nice To Haves

  • Jira Align, Jira Cloud, Confluence Cloud, or public-sector technology transformation experience.
  • Experience measuring Agile maturity and training effectiveness.
  • Experience connecting scaled portfolio practices with team-level execution and Jira/Jira Align reporting expectations.
  • Master's degree in organizational development, adult learning, instructional technology, or industrial-organizational psychology.
  • Additional credentials such as ICAgile Agile Team Facilitation (ICP-ATF) or ICAgile Enterprise Agile Coaching.
  • Atlassian Cloud certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct Agile maturity, Jira Cloud proficiency, and team-readiness interviews, workshops, and observations.
  • Deliver engaging instructor-led and virtual training on Agile fundamentals for Scrum Masters, Product Owners, and Jira and Confluence Cloud users.
  • Coach teams on backlogs, ceremonies, prioritization, flow, metrics, and standardized Jira work management.
  • Adapt coaching to assessed team needs and provide office hours and post-training reinforcement.
  • Facilitate Agile communities of practice and champions sessions; gather feedback and improve reusable guidance.
  • Partner with instructional designers and analysts to align training paths with assessment results and adoption measures.
  • Re-assess Agile maturity and Jira Cloud utilization through structured interviews, team observation, facilitated workshops, and evidence-based coaching plans.
  • Tailor role-based coaching for Scrum Masters, Product Owners, team leads, and portfolio stakeholders, with actionable follow-up goals and clear ownership.
  • Demonstrate working Jira boards, epics, stories, sprint and Kanban configurations, dashboards, and reporting approaches during hands-on learning sessions.
  • Measure coaching effectiveness through behavior changes, self-assessments, training feedback, and changes in team practices rather than attendance alone.
  • Create reusable facilitation guides and coach-the-coach material to enable local champions to reinforce skills after formal instruction.
