About The Position

The Aggregate Plant Laborer safely performs a variety of duties to assist the plant manager, plant operators, and loader operators in keeping the plant and yard clean and maintained. The work includes maintaining the yard and plant, assisting with maintenance and repairs, and performing similar duties at other aggregate plants when needed. The role may also involve operating water trucks and, after training, equipment such as forklifts and loaders.

Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED and a valid commercial driver’s license with a clean record. The position requires physical work, including lifting, climbing, and using electric and air-powered hand, welding, and cutting tools. Candidates must be available for overtime, extended hours, and weekends as required. A post-offer physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check are required. Some positions also require FMCSA registration or clearance and ongoing alcohol and drug testing.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid commercial driver’s license with a clean record.
• Ability to lift 95 pounds infrequently and 50 pounds frequently, and to climb stairs or ladders up to 24 feet.
• Ability to use various electric and air-powered hand, welding, and cutting tools as appropriate.
• Experience in welding and fabrication.
• Ability to work well with others in a group or one-on-one setting.
• Availability for overtime, extended hours, and weekends as required for timely project completion.

Nice To Haves

• Working knowledge of aggregate production and associated equipment, and an understanding of operations and safety requirements.
• Familiarity with MSHA regulations.

Responsibilities

• Shovel, sweep, lift, and climb within the yard.
• Maintain the yard and plant, keeping them neat and free from debris.
• Assist plant operators with maintenance duties, greasing, and plant repairs.
• Drive a company truck to perform similar duties at other aggregate plants.
• Operate water trucks.
• May be trained to operate a forklift, loader, or similar equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.
