About The Position

As a Residential Mentor for Aggie ACHIEVE’s Summer Experience, you’ll play a hands‑on role in shaping the first steps of applicants as they explore college life. In this role, you’ll mentor applicants, model positive behavior, and help them build the skills and confidence they need to thrive on campus. You’ll foster a safe, fun, and supportive living environment, guide students as they adjust to college and independent living, and bring energy to key events, dinners, and community activities. If you’re passionate about empowering others and creating meaningful experiences, this is your chance to lead, inspire, and leave a lasting impact. The Summer Experience Residential Mentors will work with the Aggie ACHIEVE applicants June 1, 2026 - June 8, 2026.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • One year of college experience.
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to follow directions.
  • Time Management, demonstrates a proactive approach to tasks and responsibilities, exhibiting strong initiative and a willingness to go beyond assigned duties.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with adults with intellectual disability.
  • CPR Certified.
  • First Aid Certified.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and encourage a safe and fun living environment.
  • Plan and attend key events hosted by Aggie ACHIEVE.
  • Support Aggie ACHIEVE applicants with adjusting to college and independent living.
  • Planning dinners and events.
  • Provide peer mentor support and assist the applicant with acclimation to the Texas A&M University campus.
  • Keep applicants on-task and engaged during independent living and social skills seminar training.
